Desktop Clean-Up

Do you ever have so much stuff on your desktop that it just overwhelms you? If so, I can help you with that. Whenever you take a screenshot, download something, or save a document, it will go to your desktop. After a while, it will get very cramped and crowded. There are a few ways to fix that.

The first way to organize things on your desktop is to make folders for things. Here is how to do that. First go to your desktop. Then you will want to right click somewhere on the screen. There will be a pup up that shows you the different options you have.

Once you have this up, you can click on the "New Folder" option. The pop up will disappear and a folder will show up under your curser.

The folder will be titled "Untitled Folder". You can change the title by clicking on the folder once and then clicking on the title. This will make it so that you can type in a title of your choosing. Then hit the enter button on your keyboard to finish.

Once you have the folder made, you can now drag and drop anything into the folder.

Another way to clean up your desktop is by organizing it by name, date, date modified, date created, size, or tags. To do this, right click on the desktop. The same pop up will be shown.

You have several options once you get here. You can either just click on the "Clean Up" button, and it will just make it so that everything on the desktop is linear, or yo can go under the "Clean Up By" tab. From here you have a lot of options. It is up to your preference to choose how to organize everything.

Immediately after you click on how you want to organize your desktop, everything will move by however you chose.

So now that you know how to clean up you desktop, i hope that you can find things easier and are not so crowded. If you have any questions, you cant email techhelpdesk@rsu57.org or email me personally at sarahdoyle@rsu57.org.
