Home Made BuzzFeed Quizzes!

(Really a Google Forms intro with a tutorial twist!)

Today I thought I’d do something fun because usually it’s just about school. Don’t get me wrong, this can be something you use in school, but this tutorial type post will teach you how to make something that you and your classmates can enjoy! I recently made a fun little quiz on Google Forms and realized that I knew very little about Google Forms. I’m sure you’ve filled one out for school, but have you ever made one? Today I’ll show you how to make these types of quizzes specifically, I’ve never made a quiz with actual answers before. Hopefully, though, after this post, you’ll know enough that if you wanted to you could create a real test with answers.

The type of quiz you’ll be making is like one of those “Who Are You” Buzzfeed quizzes. People will answer a series of questions, count up how many A’s or B’s they have, and then see who they are! To start you’ll have to go to Google Forms which is in the little shortcut next to the notification bell if you scroll down.

Once you’re there you’ll see you have a lot of templates, for this project you won’t need them but just know they’re there if you ever want to try something out!

I used blank template and just tried to build from there. Now, for mine I needed nine questions. You can decide what kind of questions you want but this is how you add questions:

Click the + button on the side of the current question (they start you with one already there).

For this example I’m only doing three to show you. Your screen should look like this:

Now you’ll also notice that you have multiple choice as a go to, good, keep that. You can add more options by pressing “Add Option”. I’ll give mine 3 options. Another important note is that you have to have letters or numbers as the start to your options so people can add up how many of each they had.

Know that you can change the question type too! Where it says “multiple choice” it is a drop down menu. There are many types that I encourage you to try!

You can also set questions to required. You don’t need that for this one unless you want to know which of your friends said what.

You also might want to add a question with no options at the end with a title that says “Add A’s, B’s and C’s” so they know when they get to the next part. The next part is adding a new section! To do this you’ll press the little bars on the left under the +.

When you do this you’ll see that under the first section it now says “After section 1”, You’ll leave this as continue to next section, but take a minute to notice the options you have, maybe you’ll get another idea for Google Forms!

Next you’ll title your second section (Results) and add one single multiple choice question. You’ll have each option as one of your letters/numbers from the first section. You might also want to have one for if they have a tie.

You can also add another question to this section if you want that is a short answer type of question, this can be for their name.

The next part is where it can get tricky! You’ll have to make as many new sections as you have choices for section 2. I have 4 answers in section 2 so I have to make 4 new sections.

It gets worse. Now you have to go back to section two, go to the bottom left of the question (the three vertical dots) and choose “Go to section based off answer”. Then you have to make sure if they answer A they go to the section with A’s like so:

Now all you’re sections can just be descriptions and not questions like:

You’ll just want to make sure that the “after section” box says submit form and not “Continue to next section”!

Now I hope you can make your own unique quizzes and find new stuff to make! Enjoy Google Forms!
