How to Change Your Tumblr Theme and Add Music

Have you ever needed to make a project and thought a Tumblr would work great for it? Then have you ever looked at the finished project and thought that it could be better or more exciting to look at? In this post I will explain how to change your Tumblr theme and how to add music. You can use this for your school project or just your own personal Tumblr.

A theme on Tumblr is a page layout that could have a moving background, different ways to organize your posts, and different ways to organize your whole blog. Some examples of themes:

To start changing your theme, find one you like. You can find themes on Tumblr itself whether you search it on Tumblr or go to settings and look at themes Tumblr provides you with. I'd say look for one other than what Tumblr provides because they can be better and some that Tumblr have cost money.

Themes you find online will have code to make them, copy that code and go back to Tumblr.

Press the person in the top left corner and then go to the account you want to add the theme.

Then on the left menu press edit appearance.

Press edit theme and click "custom theme", this is where you will put your code. Delete everything in the box already and paste your code. Now when you save it'll look cool!

Now you won't see the theme in the mobile version and there is no way to edit the theme from the mobile version, so you have to do those steps on a computer.

Now, adding music. Honestly one of the best things Tumblr customization has to offer. To create your playlist you're going to have to go to http://scmplayer.co and then put it on Tumblr.

First choose a skin, this will just be at the top of your Tumblr page so people can skip and pause songs.

Then you will edit your playlist by adding URLs from songs you want on YouTube or you can put the URL from SoundCloud or MP3.

Click auto play in Configure Settings if you want it to automatically start playing when people go to your Tumblr page. I'd also click shuffle so it's always different.

When you click done it'll give you HTML code you will need to copy. You will go back to edit HTML in the theme part of your blog again and past what you copied inside of the <body> </body> tags.

Now once you save people who go to your blog will hear your playlist.
