The Future Is Now, Virtual Reality

Is Virtual Reality a fantasy, a time machine into the future, or is it an actual reality? You can choose to believe it or not, but virtual reality originated back in the 1960’s, it was to showcase movies. It isn’t the kind you put on your face like you think of now, it was a arcade game machine like the one of Pacman, but with a almost pyramid look where your head goes to give the overall movie simulation. It was called the Sensorama. The description put on it back in the 60’s was “The Revolutionary Motion Picture System that takes you into another world with 3-D, wide vision, motion, color, stereo-sound, aromas, wind, vibration. VR systems then faded out in the 80’s and 90’s. Before they made a comeback 10 years ago. However, now there are virtual reality devices for every device other than Apple, IOS products, Sorry Apple. However recent rumors hanging in the air is that Apple, with the iPhone X may be releasing a VR headset, that I can only imagine will only work for iPhone, as most of the Apple products are like this. It is a sleek design that isn’t so much of a box like the other VR sets. Check out more information about it here. As an everyday citizen don’t feel like the pressure is on to “catch up with the technology” There is no way VR will be replacing real life walking around and in body experiences.

Recently, the market for VR headsets has skyrocketed since around 2010. For applications such as gaming, movie watching,Major brands such as Sony, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, among many other big name brands. However there is not one that is “best on the market.” Of course you have the companies claiming theirs is the best, but there is not one that stands out above all the rest. It also depends on what you’re looking for. And what system its for, like mobile, PC, or Playstation. For the Playstation, there is only one. And the Oculus Rift works for Xbox if you would like that.

For mobile there is the Google Daydream which only works on newer phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+, the Google Pixel/PIxel XL, and two Moto X phones. But the Samsung Gear VR works on Samsung’s S6 and up, but only works with Samsung devices. The most versatile VR system is the Oculus Rift. It is for PC and Xbox compatible. The PC world is so diverse, there is not really a “best one.”
